The Association arranges a number of technical lectures and training days throughout the year. These generally cover current issues in the business interruption insurance industry and are aimed at new comers and seasoned veterans. Please scroll down the page to view details. Bitesize Training Q4 2024

Our one hour, weekly, online, BI series returns for 2024. Sessions are led by Cranston Watts and Louise Butcher and provide a structured introduction to the core principles of business interruption insurance.

Dates to be confirmed

1. BI basics and gross profit – material damage proviso, trigger, calculating Insured Gross Profit

2. Indemnity periods – assessing, issues to consider (e.g. listed buildings), indemnity periods for extensions, Additional increased costs of working.

3. Alternative options – Fees, Revenue, increased costs of working only, rent, flexible limits of loss – issues, calculations

4. Key extensions – suppliers, customers, third party premises, research and development, loss of attraction, murder, suicide etc, prevention of access, loss of utilities

5. Policy wording issues – VAT, depreciation, dual cover on stock, accumulated stock

6. Claims Adjustment – sum insured issues, savings, trends, increased costs of working – how formula in policy works in practice
